Prof. Karamjeet Singh Honoured with Punjab Rattan Award

The Punjab Kala Parishad, Chandigarh, has announced that it will confer the prestigious Punjab Rattan Award on Professor Karamjeet Singh this year. In the same announcement, the Parishad also named renowned writer Bachint Kaur as the recipient of the Mother Tongue Honour for her remarkable contribution to Punjabi literature and culture.

The committee took this decision during a meeting held at Punjab Kala Bhawan, Sector 16, Chandigarh, under the chairmanship of the Parishad. The Parishad will present these honours during a grand cultural celebration scheduled for February 2026, aimed at recognising individuals who have made outstanding contributions to arts, language, literature, and education.

Punjab Rattan Award for Prof. Karamjeet Singh

The Parishad has selected Prof. Karamjeet Singh, an eminent scholar and cultural figure, for the Punjab Rattan Award, one of the state’s highest recognitions in the fields of culture and education. The award acknowledges his lifelong contributions as a writer and scholar, along with his continuous efforts to promote Punjab’s heritage at national and international platforms.

As an academic and mentor to young minds, Prof. Singh has earned widespread respect for preserving and strengthening Punjabi literary traditions.

Honouring Literary Excellence: Bachint Kaur

The Parishad will honour Bachint Kaur with the Mother Tongue Honour in recognition of her significant role in enriching Punjabi literature. Through her acclaimed writings, she has strengthened literary narration in Punjabi and actively promoted the importance of the mother tongue, inspiring a new generation of writers and readers.

Other Cultural Honours Announced

The Parishad also announced the recipients of the Gaurav Honour, recognising excellence across various artistic fields. The honourees include Neena Tiwana, Gurvinder Singh, Devinder, and Gurmanjan Gill, who have made notable contributions to art, cinema, literature, and cultural expression.

Arts Festival Scheduled for February 2026

The Parishad will present all awards during an extensive cultural festival beginning in February 2026. The festival will feature seminars and panel discussions, art exhibitions, film screenings, theatre performances, literary sessions, and special one-day symposia dedicated to the life and work of the award recipients.

Through these initiatives, the Parishad aims to celebrate Punjabi culture, encourage creative dialogue, and inspire future generations.
