Where Strangers Become Teammates | Tabletop Socials

Tabletop Socials

In a world filled with endless scrolling, short attention spans, and surface-level conversations, something quietly began to disappear — real human connection.

People were surrounded by screens, yet somehow feeling more disconnected than ever.

That’s when Akshay Malhotra, a Data Analytics Manager and passionate explorer from Chandigarh, decided to create something different. Not another loud party. Not another networking event filled with awkward introductions. But a space where people could simply sit together, laugh genuinely, compete playfully, and connect naturally.
And that simple idea became Tabletop Socials.

It All Started With One Table

There was no grand launch or massive investment behind the idea, and honestly, nobody sat down with a perfectly crafted business plan either. It simply started with a small group of people coming together to play games, talk freely, and enjoy each other’s company.

Just a few people sitting around a table, rolling dice, picking cards, making strategies, and slowly turning strangers into friends.

At first, it looked like just another board game meetup.

But something magical kept happening.

People who arrived quietly started laughing loudly.
Introverts began leading conversations.
Strangers exchanged Instagram IDs before leaving.
And every game night ended with the same sentence:

“When’s the next one?”

That’s when Akshay realized this was becoming much bigger than board games.

More Than Games — A Community

There was no grand launch behind it.
The idea didn’t need a huge investment either.
It simply began with people coming together and enjoying real conversations.

Tabletop Socials was never only about winning games.

It became about:

  • finding your people in a new city,
  • escaping stressful routines,
  • meeting humans beyond job titles,
  • and creating memories that don’t disappear after 24 hours like stories online.

Every event brought together different personalities:

  • corporate professionals,
  • students,
  • entrepreneurs,
  • travelers,
  • creators,
  • food lovers,
  • and people who simply didn’t want another lonely weekend.

People initially joined for different reasons. Some wanted to play Uno, while others showed up for Pickleball or simply came to enjoy coffee and good conversations.
But most stayed because of the feeling.

The feeling of belonging.

From Dice Rolls to Real Bonds

What started with board games soon evolved into:

  • themed social nights,
  • café meetups,
  • pickleball events,
  • community gatherings,
  • conversations over food,
  • and unforgettable weekend experiences.

The tables got bigger.
The crowd got louder.
The smiles became more familiar.

And somewhere between “your turn” and “one last game,” friendships were formed that extended far beyond the event itself.

The Vision Behind Tabletop Socials

Akshay believes the best stories begin outside comfort zones.

And that belief is the heartbeat of Tabletop Socials.

It’s a place where:

  • phones go down,
  • conversations come alive,
  • competition stays friendly,
  • and nobody feels like an outsider for too long.

Because sometimes, all it takes is one game, one laugh, and one shared moment to change someone’s entire weekend — or maybe even their life.

A Movement, Not Just a Meetup

Today, Tabletop Socials is growing into one of Chandigarh’s most exciting social communities.

But the mission remains the same:

To help people reconnect — not through screens, but through experiences.

One table.
One game.
One conversation at a time.

The strongest connections are not built online — they are built when people sit together, laugh together, and create memories together.
