Students pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) at Panjab University (PU) will now get the opportunity to complete part of their degree in Canada. Expanding its global academic footprint, PU signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV), Canada, to introduce a dual degree programme in BBA.
PU Registrar YP Verma and UFV Vice Chancellor James Mandigo formally signed the MoU in the presence of PU Vice Chancellor Renu Vig. The University Institute of Applied Management Sciences at PU will implement the dual degree programme.
Opportunity to Study in Canada During Final Years
Under this collaboration, students enrolled in PU’s integrated BBA-MBA programme can complete their third and fourth years of the BBA course at UFV in Canada. After meeting all academic requirements set by both institutions, students will receive degrees from Panjab University as well as the University of the Fraser Valley.
This structure enables students to gain international academic credentials while continuing their core programme.
Enhancing Global Exposure and Academic Learning
The partnership will provide students with valuable international exposure and overseas academic experience. Currently, only a limited number of departments at PU offer international exchange opportunities. Among them, Dr SS Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology maintains collaborations with institutions in Japan, offering students opportunities to study abroad.
With this new agreement, PU expands its international engagement in the field of management studies.
Strengthening International Academic Partnerships
Vice Chancellor Renu Vig described the collaboration as a significant step toward broadening overseas learning pathways for students. She emphasized that international academic partnerships improve educational standards and enhance students’ global exposure. She also encouraged exploring potential academic collaboration between UFV and PU’s Institute for Social Science Education and Research.
UFV Vice Chancellor James Mandigo expressed appreciation to PU authorities and highlighted the nearly two-decade-long association between the two respected institutions from India and Canada. He conveyed confidence that the dual degree initiative would further strengthen academic ties and open new academic and professional avenues for students.
Expanding Academic Collaboration in Business Fields
Dean of International Students, Kewal Krishan, proposed expanding collaboration in business economics, acknowledging UFV’s expertise in the discipline. Through this partnership, PU students will gain access to global faculty, international industry linkages in Canada, and enhanced employability in global job markets.
The dual degree programme marks a major milestone in PU’s efforts to offer students global academic opportunities while strengthening institutional collaboration at an international level.
