Turning Setbacks Into Strength: Kochhar’s New Chapter

Karandeep Kochhar

The‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ new season with Chandigarh-based golfer started off with fresh confidence and a well-structured plan, which the year dominated by resilience and self-belief very much shaped. In the year 2024, things went downhill for him as he lost his Asian Tour card, and this setback was a really big mental challenge for him. Instead of throwing a tantrum, Karandeep Kochhar’s new chapter took a calmer approach, trusting his practice, being patient, and slowly but surely bringing his game back to the required level.

From mid-2025, his impressive return to form finally rewarded his determination as it very much reflected his gradual progress.. Among the achievements of this comeback, the most significant one in his view is the emotional return of the Asian Tour, which he considers the season’s most meaningful accomplishment.

The Indian Golf Premier League (IGPL) launch stirred a new competitive spirit in the domestic circuit, and Kochhar was more than happy with the turn of events. He didn’t take it as a valuable addition for comparison with other benchmarks, but rather as a good platform to get more competitive and still keep his focus on the international stage.

When talking about the next year, which starts in Egypt, Kochhar’s new chapter will have a tough schedule of 15 to 20 Asian Tour events with a few IGPL appearances mixed in. His short-term goal is very clear: to win his first Asian Tour tournament while at the same time, he is slowly going to build up the momentum for his bigger dream of getting a place on the PGA ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌Tour.
