After finishing his MBBS at Adesh Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Bathinda, Dr. Puneet Kumar obtained his MD in medicine from Dayanand Medical College & Hospital (DMCH), Ludhiana.
His academic career was replete with notable achievements. During his MBBS, he was a University Topper in Pathology, a Gold Medalist, a Distinction Holder, and a third place finisher in ENT.
Because of his interest in metabolic health and the treatment of chronic illnesses, he later sought a Fellowship in Diabetes Mellitus at Medvarsity Apollo, a program approved by the Royal Liverpool Academy, UK.

Emergency medicine had a significant role in Dr. Puneet Kumar’s early career.
Before relocating to Max Super Specialty Hospital in Mohali, where he held the positions of Emergency Registrar and In-charge of the Emergency Department, he worked as a Senior Resident in Emergency Medicine at Fortis Hospital.
He was exposed to severely ill patients and medical scenarios requiring prompt assessment, decision-making, and coordinated patient care while working in emergency care.
This encounter had a significant impact on his later work as a physician.

After establishing expertise in emergency medicine, Dr. Kumar progressed into internal medicine and diabetology.
He worked as a doctor and diabetologist at Mohali’s Indus Super Specialty Hospital from 2018 to 2021. He worked as a consultant physician at SGHS Hospital in Sohana from 2021 until 2024.
In November 2024, he joined Livasa Hospital in Mohali as a Senior Consultant Physician.
